Stories that shaped me

More than a Football Team

From Practice to Pick-Six

Football started as just showing up to practice, putting on pads, and trying to earn my spot. At first, it was all about learning the plays, getting faster, and figuring out how to trust the teammates around me. Some days were tough, especially when practice felt endless, but those same days made the team feel closer.

Over time, I started feeling more confident on the field. I learned how to read the offense, stay patient, and react instead of overthinking. One of my favorite memories was the day I got my pick-six. For a second, everything slowed down. I saw the pass, jumped the route, caught it, and just ran. Hearing my teammates yelling behind me made it one of those moments I’ll never forget.

Football gave me more than games and highlights. It gave me discipline, friendships, and memories from practices, bus rides, Friday nights, and moments where the whole team felt locked in together.

Built by a Family of Athletes

Swimming, wrestling, running, and growing up through sports

I have been an athlete for as long as I can remember. A lot of that came from my dad and my sister. Sports were never just something I did alone. They were part of how our family spent time together, pushed each other, and learned discipline without always calling it discipline.

Growing up, we tried everything. Swimming taught me how to keep going even when I was tired. Wrestling taught me toughness and how to stay calm when things got uncomfortable. Cross country taught me patience, because there is no shortcut when you still have miles left. Doing those sports with my family made the hard parts feel easier and the small wins feel bigger.

Over time, sports became more than practices and competitions. They became part of who I am. They taught me how to show up, how to lose, how to improve, and how to keep moving even on days when I did not feel ready. A lot of my love for athletics started with my family, and I still carry that with me every time I compete.

Emcee at Cultural Events

Almost every year, my family helped organize Diwali community events, and I usually ended up on the mic as the emcee. It became one of those traditions where I got to have fun, keep the program moving, and feel connected to my culture and community.
